A well-respected old coach of mine used to say, “matches are won and lost in both penalty areas”. With that in mind, do we coach finishing enough? Or, at least allow players the opportunity to practise finishing within our sessions? Historically, every session would end with a finishing practice, but this tradition seems to have disappeared. And, if we do allow time for finishing, is it transferrable to the game?
