An effective assistant coach empathises with the head coach, leads on specific focus areas and adopts a ‘can do’ approach to solving problems, says former MK Dons head coach and Crawley Town assistant manager, Dan Micciche.
“When I've been a head coach i've wanted an assistant that can take the lead on the grass in certain areas, appreciate the demands that the head coach has got and support in terms of taking a lead on other things, whether that’s working with particular players or with specific meetings.”
